IS DRUNK ELEPHANT WORTH IT?

the it girl guide

Drunk Elephant is a skincare brand that you've probably seen on your social media. The products are super photo ready and this would definitely be considered an it-girl brand. It isn't the most affordable skincare line on the market, but that's what makes it even more desirable.

I mean, I see these products in mood boards all the time.

So we get they are super cute, but are they worth it?

Well, I took one for the team and ordered products suggested by you guys and popular ones I have seen all over social media.

Here's what I thought.

First of all, the packaging was cute, and I liked how everything broke down how to use the products and what you should pair them with. Their website is also super helpful if you want to know what cream works best with what serum and all that jazz.

However, one thing that annoyed me was that they wouldn't give me my first-time discount code until I completed my first order. So no discount, bleh.

Anyways, here's a little bit about what I ordered:

T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial™

RATING: 8.5/10

"Babyfacial™ is a pro-quality AHA/BHA “facial” that resurfaces to reveal greater clarity, improved skin texture and tone, and a more youthful-looking radiance."

You wash your face, apply this facial, and rinse it off after 20 minutes. Then you apply the tiny oil it comes with, and you are good to go. Except I also followed up with one of their moisturizers.

The thing about this product is it really is a great product, and my skin did look pretty good the next day. However, it promised A LOT, and while it was a really great product that I would buy again, I'm not 100% if it delivered everything it promised.

After using this "facial," I did notice my skin was softer and felt less textured, but I wouldn't say I woke up with flawless glowing skin. But it was improved.

However, since this is a once-a-week product, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and assuming that after about four weeks of consistent treatment, my skin will look noticeably better. Only time will tell, so I will stop back with an update in a few weeks if I notice any amazing changes.

T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum

RATING: 10/10

"A high-tech AHA/BHA gel that resurfaces dull, congested skin by gently lifting away dead skin cells, dramatically improving the appearance of skin’s tone and texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and pores."

Now, this product is 100% worth it. After one use, I became obsessed with this serum's overall feeling and result.

After one night, my skin was softer, smoother, and more even-toned.

You should use this serum every night and then the Babyfacial instead once a week. This might be a killer combination; however, I haven't had these products long enough to figure that out.

But with the amazing results I got after just one use of this product, I can't wait to see what my skin will look like after using it consistently.

Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream

RATING: 7/10

"This multifaceted rescue cream provides replenishing barrier support by reinforcing skin’s acid mantle and defending against the effects of everyday stressors."

This is a great moisturizer, and I really love it, but I'm not 110% sure I'd buy it again.

Will I use this entire thing? Yes. Does it moisturize my skin? Yes. Are there other products that can give the same effect for the same or cheaper price? Yes.

So that's where my review of this product gets a little unsure. Because there are so many different kinds of moisturizers out there, it is really hard to find the perfect one. This product locks in the moisture with the other serums offered by Drunk Elephant. But I haven't noticed an amazing quality that makes it stand out from all the other great moisturizers out there.

I will say it feels really nice on your skin and doesn't leave a greasy look or feel, which gives it points. Oh, and I also love the pump packaging it comes in.

So my takeaway is when it is paired with one of Drunk Elephant's serums, the cream does wonders. But when paired with your skincare routine featuring other products, it feels pretty average.

Protini™ Polypeptide Cream

RATING: 8.5/10

"This protein moisturizer combines signal peptides, growth factors, supportive amino acids, and pygmy waterlily for immediate improvement in the appearance of skin’s tone, texture, and firmness."

I admit I accidentally bought the smaller version of this product, and I'm a little upset about that.

This morning I kept it super simple because I wanted this cream to be the show's star. I rinsed my face with water and applied a Niacinamide serum, this cream, and sunscreen.

This morning my skin felt great from the night serum, and I applied this cream, not noticing much. However, it's now around 2:30 pm, and I just felt my skin, and oh my gosh, is it soft.

If my skin right now is a result of this cream, then let me tell you. Your skin will be softer than ever. However, it didn't really help with texture or tone, but it definitely moisturized my skin.

So if you have dry skin and that is your only problem, this moisturizer is for you. But if you deal with some other skin difficulties, just expect soft skin from this product.

my drunk elephant review:

Overall, I liked the products.

If you are going to leave this review only by purchasing one thing, I would recommend the T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum. And if you are wondering which moisturizer you should get between the two, I think that is a more personal question. If you want a basic moisturizer, go with Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream. But if you want one that makes your skin super soft, go with Protini™ Polypeptide Cream.

Honestly, I think I would buy all the products again. But maybe only the peptide moisturizer instead of the whipped one. I would definitely buy the night serum, and I think the Babyfacial is a fun, once-a-week additive to my skincare routine.

After a while and incorporating these products into my daily routine, I'll let you know my whole skincare routine, so stay tuned!
