Summer is the best season out of the whole year to try and have some fun. When the sun is out, you’ve got so many more opportunities to get things done! You can head outside more often, soak up the rays, meet up with friends who are usually too busy, and simply make some amazing memories to look back on in winter.
But if you want to really treat yourself this summer time, you’re going to need to put effort into self care, enjoyment, and having plenty of fun away from the working world. Don’t let that guilt about what’s waiting in your email inbox drag you down, and definitely don’t let thoughts about past mistakes get in the way of having a good time! Focus on the here and now, spread your wings a little, and try out some of the ideas below to feel amazing all season long.

Forget About House Work
This is the summer - that means it’s time for you to forget about your responsibilities and have the most relaxing and hottest summer possible! Take your time planning your activities but be sure you plan some! If that means you forget about the kitchen renovation or clearing out the attic for another couple of months, so be it.
Don’t let house work bog you down while you’re trying to enjoy yourself. Have some fun, try out some new things, and don’t let any guilt over the to-do list you still need to get through hold you back from having a very good time. We mentioned it above but it bears repeating here! That priority list will still be there when it’s time to head back to work and you only have weekends to spare.
Plan Multiple Mini Breaks
International travel is a great thing to spend your summer vacation on. However, if you’ve got a relatively small budget this year and you don’t want to use up all your savings on a two week long sabbatical, plan multiple mini breaks instead.
A few days in a new location every two weeks or so will give you plenty of time out of the city or country, and you won’t have to break the bank to spend your time there either. If you live in Europe, this is quite an affordable thing, but even if you’re a native of the US or the UK, you can still grab some cheap flights during the summer period.
Try a New Restaurant Each Week
How often do you eat out during the year? Probably only once or twice, and even then you go to places you’ve been to before that you know serve food you love to dig into. This summertime, make sure you try out a new restaurant every single week.
Step out of your comfort zone a little, invite friends and family to come out with you, and don’t let your need to know what you’ll be served stop you from having a taste of something new.
Visit a Spa
A relaxing spa is a great location to spend your summer. You can spend a good few days in one each month during your summer vacation and come out feeling refreshed each and every time. You’re never going to feel better, in terms of self care, than when you’ve visited a spa!
If you've never been to a spa before, make sure you pack your coziest clothing and don’t be afraid to head in for long massages. You can also get acupuncture while you’re here, quite a few beneficial skincare treatments, and plenty of attention for your body as a whole.
Have a Hobby Day
Hobby days are great fun, no matter how old you are or what hobbies you’re interested in. Have a hobby day once or twice during the summer period and you’ll be able to spend a lot of quality time doing something you love, which is something we don’t get to devote ourselves to when we’re working round the clock. And if you're going to be knitting for hours on end or building and painting model houses, make sure you put on background music as well!
Book a Paint and Sip Session
Paint and sip sessions are all the rage these days. You get to spend time being creative, but you can bring along a bottle of your favorite bubbly to pop open and have a glass of too. This is a great way not only to encourage your creative side, but it’s also a good way to make new friends or spend time with old ones.
Host a Party or Two
How long has it been since you last hosted a party? If it’s been a good couple of months, or even a good few years, it’s time to get planning one or two! The summer is the perfect time to learn how to make a few new cocktails and get the decorations up. You can even hand make your own if you wish, as parties are quite easy to decorate for when you’ve got some paper, glue, and pencils tucked away in a cupboard somewhere.
If you’re worried no one will attend, remember that people are going to be much more free with their time and energy. As such, you’ll be able to have a few night long bashes that will have people talking for a long time to come! Of course, you don’t have to have wild parties, but make sure everyone who attends has a good time and wants to come back for another one soon. This means getting the music just right and making sure there’s plenty to eat while people are around.
If you want to treat yourself this summer time, make sure you do so in an amazing way. Take time on your hobbies, have a party with plenty of drinks, head abroad here and there, visit a spa while you’ve got the time, and try to have fun no matter what you do.
