How To Be Comfortable And Still Stay On Trend

hello world!

It’s terrible when you have to make a choice between style and comfort - you want to look great, but you also want to be able to enjoy your day and do all the things you want to do without being restricted, but when it comes to fashion, that combination can often just seem impossible.

Well, that might have been the case in the past, but the great thing about today’s fashion is that it’s evolved to the point where comfort and style can easily go hand in hand (and often do), which means it’s a lot easier to enjoy your clothing and really make the most of the outfits you wear. Today you can feel great and look fabulous at the same time, and if you want to know how to do it, keep reading because we’ve got some fantastic tips for you to try out.

Prioritize Fit And Fabric

When it comes to staying comfortable without sacrificing style (which is what we all want at the end of the day), it’s got to be about the right fit and, of course, the right fabric. No matter how trendy an outfit is, if it’s too tight, scratchy, or stiff, you’ll spend your whole day wishing you were wearing something else, and that’s never a good situation to find yourself in. The key, then, is to look for clothing made from breathable, soft fabrics like cotton, linen, or even bamboo, which is becoming really popular because it’s not only comfortable, but it’s sustainable too.

You’ll want to find clothes that have a relaxed or tailored fit rather than something that’s really tight (even if it looks great!), and you don’t have to worry that you’ll look ‘bad’ if you try this idea because if you find clothes that skim your body rather than cling to it, you can still look absolutely put-together and feel comfy at the same time - the ideal combination. Look for loose-fitting shirts, drawstring trousers, and flowing dresses that can look fantastic and can even be styled in various different ways depending on the look you’re going for, but that don’t make you look out of touch with fashion in any way.

As for the materials, you’ll need something with a bit of stretch to it, so the materials we mentioned above are just right. If what you’re wearing is breathable and stretchy, you’ll be able to wear it all day long without feeling restricted and uncomfortable, and that means you’ll feel confident but also be able to focus on your work or tasks without your clothes distracting you (which should never be the case).

Try Athleisure Options

Have you ever heard of athleisure? Maybe you have, and you never thought it was something that could be all that trendy, but you might be looking at things the wrong way if that’s your ideal of it - the fact is that athleisure can definitely be trendy, especially if you want to be comfortable as well (and who doesn’t want that?). Although this kind of clothing might once have been relegated to just being worn in the gym or when everything else was in the wash, sporty items like jogging bottoms, leggings, and trainers are now completely acceptable things to wear out and about - and you can look amazing when you choose them.

Let’s look at leggings, for example. These days, they come in a massive range of stylish looks and fabrics that you can easily dress up if you want to - why not pair a gorgeous pair of black leggings with a long tunic, a fashionable jacket, and some ankle boots, for example, and if you do, you’ll find you’ve got an effortlessly stylish look that’s also incredibly comfortable, which is the whole point.

Then there’s your shoes - trainers don’t have to be just for exercise anymore; they’ve become a fashion statement in their own right, especially if you opt for plain and simple white versions that can match with anything else you might want to wear. And when it comes to what to wear with them, the answer is pretty much anything in your wardrobe because these versatile shoes can be worn with jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses (formal and casual), and even suits. Take your pick and add some comfy trainers and you can be on your feet for as long as you need to without any worries and barely a hair out of place!

Layer When You Can

Layering isn’t just a practical thing to do because it keeps you warm (or allows you to remove clothes to cool down, for example); it’s actually a great way to stay comfy while also looking put-together and chic. The beauty of layering is that you can just keep adjusting it through the day, depending on the weather and your comfort level, and it also adds a bit of depth and style to your outfit, so it’s a great idea no matter how you look at it.

You’ll want to start with a comfy base if you’re going to use layering (and it’s definitely something to try out because you might find you fall in love with the idea), and that could be something like a fitted tee, a soft tank top, or snug bodysuit, and so on. The point is that if you start with a good base layer, you can add layers on top and always feel comfortable.

And if you really want to stay trendy, play around with textures - that’s something that layering actually really allows for, so it’s a fun game to play and if it means you’re always stylish, that’s got to be a bonus! You can combine smooth fabrics like silk or satin with chunky knits or denim, for example - but the options are pretty much limitless really. Then your outfit will be interesting to look at and wear, but because you’ve carefully layered, you’ll be comfortable, so it all works out well.

Choose Comfy Accessories

As you probably know, especially if you’re really up on fashion, accessories can make or break an outfit, but just because you should be wearing them, that doesn’t mean they have to be uncomfortable - in fact, you can pick some comfortable ones on purpose to ensure that your entire outfit is exactly how you want it to be in both looks and how it feels when you’re wearing it.

One thing to think about is your bag. Instead of carrying around a heavy handbag, why not use a lightweight crossbody bag or a modern backpack instead? They’re much more practical and easy to wear, but if you choose the right bag, they can also be super stylish. Plus, they give you a kind of carefree, youthful look and they’ll stop your back and shoulder from hurting, so there isn’t a downside to worry about.

And heels… why do we all immediately think heels are the right thing to wear? Because they can be removed from your wardrobe altogether if you want since when you’re going for a great look, flats are just as good as heels, and much more comfortable as well. And there are so many fashionable options out there, from pointed to flats to loafers and, of course, the trainers we mentioned earlier, that you can easily find something to finish your outfit off just right.

Have Downtime Outfits Too

Comfort doesn’t have to only apply when you’re out and about - how you relax at home matters massively too (if there’s one place where you want to feel comfortable, it’s got to be in your own home). The thing is, you want your downtime outfits to be comfortable, but you don’t want to be embarrassed if you have to open the door for a delivery or the neighbor pops round for a cup of sugar! So you still need to think things through carefully.

One of the easiest and comfiest combinations is a pair of leggings and an oversized cardigan because it’s perfect for lounging around the house reading a book, watching TV, or playing a fun online game like spider solitaire, for example. Or what about the old favorite - pajamas. Don’t go for something old and raggedy that’s seen better days, though; opt for matching pajama sets that make you feel stylish and comfortable and happy to be at home. When you’re shopping, look for sets that are made from soft, breathable material for the most comfortable options.

Go Monochrome

Monochrome outfits (which is when you wear just one color, or perhaps varying shades of one color) are an easy way to look fantastically and effortlessly stylish without having to really think about it (or, as is often the case with fashion, overthink it). It’s something that’s going to make getting dressed and choosing your clothes really easy, so it’s a perfect idea for those mornings when you just want to be comfortable and get on with things - and we all have mornings like those!

What’s really great about monochrome outfits isn’t just that they’re easy and comfortable, it’s that they look amazing too - you can make sure you’ve got a really flattering silhouette, and you can go all black, all white, or soften things up by using neutral colors like cream and beige. Want to be bold? Use bright colors to really stand out!
