From Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to Jennifer Garner in 13 Going on 30, the leading ladies in romantic comedies have always embraced a playful and charming sense of style. With Valentineโs Day right around the corner, now is the perfect time to dress like your favorite character. Iโm here to guide you in doing exactly that.
A classic, well-fitting pair of jeans should be a staple in every womenโs closet. While the styling in these movies is typically a bit eccentric, blue jeans still make an appearance in most rom-coms. They're a timeless fashion choice that not only looks good, but also adds relatability to the characters. Personally, Iโm obsessed with the pair of Leviโs that Sydney Sweeney wears in the opening scene of Anyone But You.
Some of the most memorable scenes in romantic comedies occur when the leading lady is wearing a colorful statement dress. Think Jennifer Garner's iconic rainbow dress from 13 Going on 30 or the backless yellow gown Kate Hudson wears in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. These scenes are memorable, not just because of the acting, but also because of the fashion. Invest in a unique, brightly colored dress and no one will be able to take their eyes off of you.
In romantic comedies, jewelry is often used to add a touch of playful innocence to the main character. To the untrained eye, some of these maximalist pieces may come off as โtackyโ. However, every โit girlโ knows that when styled correctly, bold accessories have the ability to completely elevate an outfit. Itโs all about finding the right balance between being bold and chic. Whether you opt for a pair of hot pink hoops or a shiny gold statement necklace, I encourage you to experiment with fun, maximalist jewelry! Iโve found that Urban Outfitters and En Route Jewelry have some great, inexpensive options.
A fun bag is an absolute must-have. Not only are they super practical, but carrying a colorful bag is an easy way to effortlessly elevate a simple outfit. In fact, I'd even suggest rocking a monochromatic look to showcase your extravagant bag! Trust me, a vibrant pop of color can really take an outfit to the next level.
The final element to complete your new rom-com-ready wardrobe is obviously a floral top or skirt. This classic print appears in nearly every 90s/2000s romantic comedy, and itโs still just as popular today! With the revival of 90s/2000s fashion, almost every brand sells this delicate print. I personally love the floral maxi skirts from Brandy Melville! Theyโre my go-to choice when I want to add a feminine touch to my outfit.
With the revival of 2000โs cult classic Mean Girls returning to our screens, now with a controversial musical twist, teens have been incorporating some of the trending iconic looks into their daily wardrobe (me included). However, itโs almost impossible to find the perfect pink pieces that wonโt break the bank. Luckily, I have searched the internet high and low to find you the best accessories, shoes, garments, and much more, to ensure that you have a wardrobe thatโll make even The Plastics jealous.
Starting off strong we have all shoes great and small, from trainers to chunky heels, these are guaranteed to be the staple of any outfit.
Crop tops and tank tops will forever be trendy, flattering, and cute. But alas, they are not perfect. Step outside and youโre frozen. So I found some jackets for you too ๐
The skirts are staying mini and staying fabulous, while the trousers are ever-changing. Weโve seen many skirt trends come and go over the years, but the one that we will always love the most are the minis. Regina, Karen and Gretchen are style icons when it comes to skirts; pair with a tank top and kitten heels and youโre a natural Plastic.
These dresses provide a more modernโtake on the 2000โs style, with the cutest clutch bags to match. The Meshki dress is the perfect day-to-night glam look thatโs both simple but totally elegant.
So, there you have it. The ultimate guide to changing your wardrobe from looking like homeschool Cady to taking down the Mean Girls whilst looking pinktastic! In no time youโll be asking โwhy are you so obsessed with me?โ
The year has barely begun, and already we are beginning to see hints of emerging fashion trends and aesthetics. From โMob Wifeโ to โMessy Girlโ, are these โtrendsโ truly here to stay, or simply a passing craze? Using Google Search Analytics, I unpack which fashion themes are setting the scene based off search popularity.
An unexpected addition to 2024โs lineup, this trend lends homage to classic movies such as โThe Sopranosโ and โThe Godfatherโ. Think sultry silhouettes, bold jewelry and emphasis on reds and blacks. Textiles such as fur are making a strong resurgence, and ballet flats are being quickly swapped for boots and heels.
The mob wife girly is unbothered. She does what she wants and looks cool doing it, and accepts that messiness is not the enemy!
Despite Mob Wife content ruling our feeds, quiet luxury is here to stay. A focus on understated designer fashion underpins this, with a focus on staple pieces like the straight jean, blazer, and tailored pieces.
Bags with space, durability and style are the vogue for this year. Brands such as The Row and Longchamp have been on a steady search incline, as a result of their simple styles and space for all of lifeโs items.
Inspired by the coquette aesthetic, the elegance of hair bows and ribbons is sticking around. Incorporated into more mature styles or embracing more juvenile looks, these accessories will elevate your look!
This beautiful red started emerging in early December of last year, and I am here for it! Cherry Red accents are appearing everywhere, and really helps to add a pop of color to neutral outfit palettes. IMO, this shade works particularly well with cream and slate grey.
Happy styling it girls!

Party girl style is eccentric, sparkly, and bold. But hereโs the secret: underneath all that flair, itโs still super chic at its core. So donโt be deterred by its maximalist nature - this aesthetic is the perfect blend of classic and daring!
Some influencers/celebrities that I believe perfectly embody this look are Eileen Kelly, Devon Lee Carlson, and Bella Hadid.
So how can you nail party girl style? Well, thatโs exactly what Iโm here for! I have all the tips and tricks to help you recreate this look.
Every girl needs a touch of sparkle in her life. Whether it be a tiny mini skirt or a longer maxi skirt, sequins are a must-have when recreating the party girl aesthetic. From metallic silver to blush pink to electric blue, the color doesnโt really matter. As long as it shines on the dance floor, you are good to go.
90% of the pins saved on my Pinterest boards include some sort of leopard print. Tiny shorts, lace tank tops, faux fur coats, you name it. Itโs maximalist, itโs adventurous, itโs wild.
When you see a girl rocking tiny leopard print shorts, you just know she likes to have fun. Leopard print invites conversation. It draws people in and sparks curiosity.
Corset tops are seriously made for everyone. No matter your body type, a corset top has the power to enhance both your curves & your confidence. I promise you, everyone looks good in a corset top. Itโs classic, itโs a go-to, and you probably have one hanging in your closet at this very moment. Thereโs no need to fix what isnโt broken. With that being said, whip out your corset top and take it for a spin on your next night out!
Kitten heels are another timeless staple, but the party girl knows how to give them an extra flair. Imagine feathers, vibrant colors, and other playful details. A fun heel can add something special to any simple outfit. In fact, I'd even suggest letting the shoe shine by keeping your outfit monochromatic. Iโd style fun kitten heels with a classic LBD (little black dress). It's the perfect canvas to showcase statement shoes!
Hobo bags are a must. They're spacious and slouchy, allowing you to fit everything you need. Toss in your lip gloss that you'll inevitably forget to reapply, along with your wallet, and you're good to go!
When it comes to party girl style, thereโs one key element that you canโt miss: hoop earrings. Seriously, theyโre an absolute necessity. The bigger the hoop the better, make a statement. The right pair of hoops can make you feel a million times hotter. Trust me, itโs the ultimate accessory to complete your party-ready look!
The chic girl is classy and timeless and turns heads without doing a thing. She believes in quality over quantity, and would rather have one perfect thing than a bunch of almost-perfect variations - and her gift guide reflects this. She loves dark colors and thrives in deep brown, red, or black. But she does love a cream-knit sweater. She reminds me of a more mature "clean girl" who wears Max Mara coats, woody perfume, and a darker lip. She always engraves her possessions, has perfect hair, and never says no to an expensive white wine or espresso martini.
This gift guide features essentials for every chic girl or the perfect pieces to become a chic girl. A dark red lipstick from Chanel is perfect for late-night drinks and an oversized wool coat is a closet staple for life. Black flats are timeless and these leather ones from Ref are so comfy, perfect for running around. And in honor of one of the original chic girls, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, a pack of headbands is a must. The perfume on this list is so chic and of course, the chic girl has a tortoise paddle brush! And we know soft and luscious hair is a must, think of Charlotte York (another chic girl blueprint) and her gorgeous locks; so a hair mask needs to be in your bathroom or your shopping cart. And lastly, of course, your bag is chic so what's in it needs to be too. A leather card holder and an engraved phone case are classy and timeless and the perfect gift.
'Tis the season for Christmas lists, and what better way to kick off The It Girl Guide's gift guides than with the cool girl? Whether you need a link to send to loved ones to subtly send them ideas or you know a cool girl in your life who would love something here, you can't go wrong with the cool girl gift guide.
"A unique recipe, a cosmetic prowess: its โreverse emulsionโ brings instant comfort and deep moisture to the driest, most dehydrated skin."
Not mentioned: it's super cute, super chic, and super cool girl. I mean pulling this out of your bag? It's like I said above - trรจs chic.
Ballet flats are everywhere, and the cool girls love 'em. Not because they are everywhere but because they know that they've been here circa Alexa Chung and Jane Birkin. So they aren't hopping on this trend because really, you're hopping on theirs.
Whether you like to host, or you just like a cute glass. The little cherry is everything and I can definitely picture these glasses in Carrie Bradshaw's apartment if she were a modern-day it girl.
The leather bag charms are perfect to Birkinify your bag or even to add to your keys. And everyone needs a cool lighter. Whether it's for those cigarettes in Paris (even if you don't smoke you'll be berated for a lighter enough times that it's just easier to carry one with you) or just to light your overpriced candle with.
A cool girl's night out needs a chic slip, and this silver one is bringing all the energy. Whether you are getting drinks, dinner, dancing, or just walking around, this will become a closet staple.
Hair perfume takes your routine to the next level and I swear by it. Whether you like a messy mane or a sleek and spiky updo, it should be finished off with a spritz of this.
"Mojave Ghost is a woody composition inspired by the soulful beauty of the Mojave Desert. In this xeric wilderness, rare are the plants that dare to blossom. With a light and graceful character top notes of musky Ambrette combine with fresh Jamaican Nesberry. Powdery Violet then unfurls to reveal Sandalwood. Finally warm Chantilly Musk rounds out a base of crisp Amber and Cedar wood, leaving the raw spirit of Mojave Ghost to linger on the skin."
Navy blue and light pink! It's the perfect shoe for the girls who wake up and choose between which aesthetic they want to embody today and now they don't have to.
Chill pill bath bombs? A Joan Didon coffee table book? Need I say more?
Kylie Jenner is launching her new clothing brand, Khy, tomorrow - but is it going to feature new closet must-have pieces, or is it just another celebrity brand out in the world? Like, has anyone actually ever bought something from Brad Pitt's skincare line? Oh, you didn't even know he had a skincare line? I rest my case.
The youngest Kardashian/Jenner line hasn't even launched yet, and it's already seen some flack and been accused of stealing designs from creative director and stylist Besty Johnson, but then Khy tried to save itself by ignoring that claim and just posted saying they created this line through Kylie Jenner and "special guest collaborators." I'm not super educated on what went down, and I'm not that sure any of us ever will be, so I'm not going to get into it.
From the outside (aka Kylie Jenner's social media posts), I'm seeing a lot of leather. Honestly, I've only seen leather. Faux leather, to be exact. But I've seen a leather mini dress, a leather maxi dress, a leather trench - it's all black faux leather. Basically, so far, Khy is as if the Matrix was a nepo baby. But hey, I'm not necessarily hating because, don't get me wrong - I love a leather moment. Seriously. I think some of the hottest looks come in leather. A low-waisted lace-up leather flare trousers or a leather jacket with silver detailing; leather is so hot and so great, but can you drop an entire line out of it?
Out of the twelve looks in drop one, only three aren't faux leather. Now, I do have to say, the prices are very, very reasonable, which is definitely refreshing to say the least. And the more I look at Khy, the more it grows on me - except for four pieces that I would really never have in my closet, and if I did, they wouldn't be from here. But everything else seems like something that I could maybe wear for a party or a night out, but nothing catches my eye right away and nothing makes me feel like I need it immediately, but there are a few things I would purchase.
There's something about a tight leather dress that is super hot - when done properly. Kylie gets bonus points for making it strapless because it's really hard to make not high-quality leather straps look good. Out of all the pieces in the collection, I would probably wear these two dresses the most. They seem perfect for night events and can styled easily.
These leather pants remind me of the ones Candice Swanepoel wore to that hot people event, and I'm sure they sat in the back of the designer's mind when drafting these up. I personally have a lot of vintage pants that look like this, but if you don't, then I'd say it wouldn't hurt to have at least one pair in your closet, and this one from Khy will be just fine.
As for the mock neck, it's part of the three seamless pieces made: a mock neck, a baby tee, and leggings. The mock neck is the only piece I'd buy on its own. I think the leggings and the baby tee have to be worn together in order to look because I wouldn't wear them on their own, so I decided I just would rather not purchase them at all. However, a tight black long sleeve is always. a great piece for fall and winter, whether you layer with it or wear it on its own. And I love the long sleeves and the "mock" neck. The one part that rubs me the wrong way is the finger holes. I'm not really a fan of those, but if you are, then this really is the top for you.
A messy bag - when done properly - can be the epitome of chic. It's effortless and careless, yet sneakily shows off your eye for expensive pieces when your engraved La Mer lip balm happens to fall out. It's as if quiet luxury was slightly unkept and collected too many keychains from the places of the world.
And honesty, messy isn't really the right word. It's more eclectic. Charming. Lived in. It's the Mary Poppins of bags. Because who doesn't need an extra pump hanging out the side?
Now, originally, it was Jane Birkin and Mary-Kate Olsen who capitalized on this trend.
Although they were also a fan of the worn-in leather look on their Birkins, which I am definitely a fan of, the designers seemed to skip out on that side of the look for spring ready-to-wear 2024.
And speaking of designers, the overflowing bag was seen in countless looks for Miu Miu and Balenciaga.
The fun thing about this trend is you can really personalize it. You can go all out with the chains or just fill your bag with lip products and pajama shorts.
So, what are some it-girl products and pieces that will take your bag to the messy bag? Of course, there are the essentials that all it-girls keep in their bags, but now we are taking it to the next level.
Nobody wants to stay in their tight pants all day, especially when you are going straight to a friend's house from work. And nobody has clothing pieces as good as you do. That's why carrying boy shorts and a cotton t-shirt will always be a lifesaver. You'll thank me later.
Your keys should already have looks of fun keychains on them; that's a given, but Balenciaga is in a new ballfield. Now, I'm one for little chains on the zipper of your bag. In fact, my little Dutch shoe that my dad got me when we were in Holland hangs off my white shoulder bag, and it's my favorite thing ever. But Balenciaga said we need more than ribbons, bows, and sentimental pieces. And it's really up to you to see how jingly you want to get.
There's no time to keep your thoughts organized! And with the three different journals you write in, a lot of paper is inevitable. And everyone knows to keep the receipts until you are sure that those Western Suede Ankle Boots from Khaite are as comfy as you hoped they would be.
This is where you can get super personal. A rose quartz, a piece of your childhood, your lucky necklace - whatever makes you happy and brings you good energy goes in the bag.
I live for a chic coat. Live for it. So the second fall hits I scream in excitment to break them out. I feel like a kid about to get a hug from Santa. It's a warm embrace. A warm, fuzzy, hug that makes your smile so big you think this feeling will never go away, and for the rest of the day you float around remembering that cozy feeling. That's the love I have for a vintage Christian Dior fur coat. Or any of my other coats that I love dearly, for a mother could never choose a favorite child. Although one just might get mentioned a few more times than the rest.
But that warm fuzzy embrace doesn't have to just come from Santa or the smell of cookies, it can come from a soft textured oversized wool trench.
And the same way a winter feeling feels different from a fall feeling, that theory applies to coats. The action of throwing on your trench in London over your pajamas on a cold and rainy day is a different feeling than running out the door in NYC throwing your vintage leather jacket over your tank top and jeans. But oh how they are both so yummy.
Now, you might starved from this delicious taste of fur, wool, and leather (faux is more than acceptable in fact it's encouraged) but now is your chance to order the decadent chocolate cake off the menu. But in this case, we're reading the menu alla TIGG and ordering through our shopping carts, because sometimes that just feeds us more.
The Carrie Bradshaw of coats. The chic, the French cigarette, the red nails, the drinks at a NYC bar, the fabulous. That's a fur coat. Styled at night over a slinky dress, kitten heels, and a clutch for a head-turning look.
The perfect coat for those moments when you want to look and feel chic but you still want to be undeniably comfortable. This is the Olsen twin of coats. I like to throw on a chic black wool coat over some pajamas, or silk pants if you want a look that looks like daytime clothes but still emulates the pajama pants.
The London look. She's a classic, an undeniable it-girl. Slightly more European, but can still be fun and fresh when not taken too seriously. I'm still talking about the coat by the way. I like a trench styled with a white crewneck, some slouchy pants, black sunglasses, and unstyled hair.
The oversized blazer can be a total it-girl look when worn properly. It needs to be styled with pieces that show off your personal style, rather than what you think it needs to be styled with - that's the key. And stay away from small chunky gold hoops when wearing an oversized blazer, now's your chance to reach for something else and it will look so much better, I promise you. I like a boxier men's shaped blazer but I do appreciate a women's one every once in a while. For. a daytime look I might just pair it with a pair of low baggy jeans and a red cotton top with either sneakers or ballet flats. Then for a night look, I'd wear it over a mid-length dress with some Mary Jane flats, black eyeliner, and a vintage shoulder bag.
My personal statement piece. Very city and edgy and can elevate any outfit. I've definitely grown my collection of leather jackets and it's hard for me to go to a city without leaving with a vintage leather jacket. But you can never have too many coffees, Vogue magazines, or leather jackets.
This new Reformation x Camille Rowe collection might just be my new favorite thing.
"Designed for it girls by an it girl" - Reformation on their collection. And I couldn't agree more.
They feature a lot of staple pieces, like a long sleeve cashmere shirt (that I'm about to drool over in the next few paragraphs) and the perfect black trousers, but they also have some killer party pieces to totally elevate your next outing - and it's just in time for all the holiday parties around the corner.
Camille herself even said, "Some of the collection is inspired by vintage pieces directly from my wardrobe, and most of the party dresses are pieces Iโve fantasized about dancing in." And I couldn't have described it better.
However, I've pulled together what I think are the must-have pieces, because after perusing through all the looks, there are some items that your closet won't be missing out on. Meaning I don't think I need a graphic t-shirt that has the shape of fruit of the loom and says "hedonism." You can't win 'em all, but these are some closet pieces that are definitely winners.
A gorgeous, simple yet eye-catching, long dress. It's perfect paired with a vintage oversized fur coat for upcoming parties, or a leather jacket for a night out in the city. The dress is slouchy but fits nicely to accentuate your waist and natural curves. It also has a low back which is just a stunning touch that often gets forgotten, but not around here.
Hello, girl's night out! The next time you want to hit the town in your mini skirt - this is what needs to be worn. Plus the long-sleeved shirt paired with a little fun liquid will keep you warm enough to leave the house without a jacket.
These black pinstripe pants are so flattering and have a built-in belt that immediately accessorizes your look for you. They also look oh-so chic with pointy boots and are perfect for those days you want to feel chic but still comfortable.
You girls know how obsessed I've been with black long-sleeve sweaters this fall (especially if you follow TIGG on Twitter). But I was never able to find the perfect one that turned my vision into a reality - until 2 hours ago. This is the ultimate and most perfect and my IDEAL black long-sleeve shirt. Reformation, you did it. And on top of that, it's cashmere! Added to cart, like yesterday.
When I think of a fall/winter party dress, I think of a black turtleneck mini dress. But I think of a hot young one. And now, I think of this one.
You can never go wrong with a simple strappy black dress. I. do have to say that some dresses look better with a jacket and some without - this one is definetly more flattering with one.
This might just be my favorite dress out of the 3 options. I mean the slit?! With the bow?! And I loooove a long sleeve crew neck mini dress. Especially in black.
Okay, but these black jeans with the black cashmere long sleeve. And a fun belt, either like the one styled above or even a brown one with gold accents. And your shoe of choice. Boom.
Love a metallic shoe, so a metallic Mary Jane heel definitely intrigued me. At first. I couldn't figure out where I would wear these. And then I came to the realization, where would I not wear these? Then I imagined Carrie Bradshaw. And then I added them to my cart.
Honestly, I didn't really realize that all of the Reformation x Camille Rowe sweaters were the same style and just different colors because they all have such different vibes and I would style them all differently. Like this brown one is great for a cozy fall night or paired with a black mini-skirt, but I wouldn't ever wear the pink one like that. So, point is - all the colors are necessary and they all have their place here.
Um, hello mermaid princess! Gorgeous long dress that looks great on everyone. And with your hair done and some stacked accessories - you'll be glowing.
We all love boots. And an ankle one is definitely very Alexa Chung / Camille Rowe coded (duh). But you may be wondering why you spend almost $400 on mini black boots. Well, two reasons. The first is Reformation makes really comfortable shoes and my current favorite ankle ones are from Ref. Second, these look just like the Khaite ones that I styled in a lookbook except those are $950. Do what you will with that information.
First off, I really do have to give credit to Camille and Reformation for truly making my dream closet staples. They are all exactly the shape, fabric, and look of these pieces that I dream about. Second - I'm almost convinced that they stalked TIGG to figure out what to make because these are all just too good.
If these jeans weren't just released today I would have totally thought that Kendall Jenner has them and it's the pair she wears all the time. That being said, now's your chance to get them before she does.
