I genuinely believe skincare starts from the inside out, and what you eat and drink (or don't eat and drink) is reflected directly onto your skin.

I never really knew why my skincare routine would sometimes work and sometimes wouldn't, and I always just assumed it was one of the products I was using that my skin didn't like. But that obviously didn't make sense because sometimes the exact same products could make my skin glow; it was just so confusing.

But slowly, I started noticing a pattern between the food I was eating and the quality of my skin the next morning. I swear I eat one brownie, and my skin is horrible when I wake up.

So the moral of that story was quality of the food = quality of the skin. So now I love adding foods and vitamins and micronutrients and supplements to my diet that I know will make my skin glow, and it's been working. With the combo of my skincare routine and my diet, and this drink, in particular, my skin feels and looks fantastic.

Anyways, let's get into the details of this drink. I'll explain how to make it, as well as why each ingredient is so crucial.

drink recipe for my skin

  1. Fill a microwave-safe glass with half a cup of water (feel free to eyeball the measuring it won't make a big difference in the end) and heat for 30 seconds. You could also warm your water in a kettle or pot, but don't bring it to a boil.
  2. Add your matcha, chlorophyll, and vanilla collagen to your cup of warm water (these are the skin saviors right here, but I will discuss them more below).
  3. Using a bamboo whisk (or whatever you've got, but I'd suggest the bamboo when working with ceremonial matcha) whisk together your water glass until the matcha and collagen are completely dissolved.
  4. Fill a new glass with ice and add your almond milk.
  5. Pour the matcha mixture over your almond milk and serve!

And there you have it, the perfect skin elixir. But let's discuss why.

skin benefits of matcha

Starting off with matcha, it is full of antioxidants, meaning it is great for inflammation. Which in turn means it is great at soothing red, irritated skin like acne or eczema. On top of this, matcha contains methylxanthines. This big word boosts microcirculation in the skin, giving you a more soft, even, and radiant complexion. Matcha also stimulates elastin production, which also adds to this new soft and healthy completion of yours.

is chlorophyll good for my skin?

The liquid chlorophyll you add also provides the skin with anti-inflammatory properties. It also has antimicrobial properties which prevent the growth of unwanted bacteria. These two attributes will minimize the appearance of pores and prevent/treat acne.

benefits of collagen

Lastly, we all probably know by now that collagen is great for your skin, hair, and nails. Collagen is a protein produced in our body that gives our skin that plump, fresh, and youthful glow. However, the amount of collagen our body produces declines over time, which is why we need to add it back through supplements.

So now that we learned about the benefits these three products provide for our skin, I hope you enjoy this yummy drink and let me know if you tried it out in the comments!
