WHERE TO EAT IN MIAMI

@skyhaarsma

Miami may not be the city for me; however, I did go when the temperatures were at record low, and it was 20 degrees hotter in LA, so I am willing to give it another shot. However, I did have some really excellent meals. The food was a 10/10, and the vibes were another 10/10. While there are some more well-known places that are probably good, I skipped, like Carbone and Catch; my picks are way better, and no reservation is needed (ok, maybe get one to be safe, but I didn't).

Motek South Beach

This was probably my favorite meal and restaurant on this trip (and possibly just in Miami Beach). You have to sit outside; the ambiance is amazing with all the lights and lanterns in the trees. The food is also amazing, and you really can't go wrong with what you order. I, of course, had to get the hummus, and it was delicious and a must-order. I also loved the small details. Like the jar of olive oil and flaky salt on your table. And how the pita comes with your own little mini sauce bottle.

Forte Dei Marmi

I was shocked by how much good Italian food you can find in Miami Beach. But this place is so beautiful, it is great for dinner. But most importantly, you have to order the pistachio gelato. I cannot emphasize that enough; there is no point in going if you do not leave having had one of these. They also offer tableside tiramisu if that's your vibe, but of course, I vote for the gelato.

Bistro Collins

Bistro Collins is located inside the Loews Hotel and seems to be advertised as more of a bar than a restaurant. I, however, had just gotten off a plane after a long travel day and was delirious, up way past my bedtime, and too hungry to make any rational decisions. So we stumbled to the outside patio of Bistro Collins (which is way nicer than the inside, you HAVE to sit outside) and figured I would grab a bite, relax, and then stumble off to bed. I was not expecting good food. Especially not good pizza because on the menu it is categorized as "flatbread," which in my mind is just code for stale, bad, chewy crackers. But boy was I wrong. Pictured above is the Mortadella Flatbread (I picked off the meat, obviously) with pesto, arugula, and fresh parm. The dough was absolutely insane. One of the best. I mean, just look at it. My salad was also delicious, and I had never had anything like it or ever ordered a salad with these ingredients. I'm thinking specifically of the toasted coconut meat sprinkled on top. And don't even get me started on the Brussels sprouts. They were roasted in a date syrup (the best ones are), but these were so sweet and cooked so perfectly; I couldn't eat them fast enough. All of these dishes are a must-order.

The Henry

Located in a mall in Brickell, The Henry is cozy and dark (ask to be seated on the left side of the restaurant, near the bar), and it was a great escape from the rain. I know, I was in Miami the only time it has ever rained. But the food is delish and the best treat after shopping. I couldn't decide between the bowl and the salmon, so I ordered a salad and added salmon for the best of both worlds. It was very yummy. You already know I ate every last bite. But to start, we had to order the pretzel bites. Duh. They were warm and soft, and bonus points: on the happy-hour menu.

Casa Tua

You know I love a good vibe, and Casa Tua has it. Also, there seems to be a garden theme happening in this article, but who doesn't love a patio in the sun?! It's so enchanting and romantic, and you feel like a fairy. The food and drink are very much whatever; it's quite average, but you are coming here for the vibe more than the food.

Honorable Mention: Sour Seed Bagels (in West Palm Beach)

I know you have to drive about an hour and a half, but I dream about this place and have to share. The matcha with coconut milk and coconut water was heavenly, and I would order it every day if I could.

Here on TIGG, you can feel like an it-girl not only through reading about new outfit ideas and supermodels, but also through vintage designer finds, wellness, and lots of good food and drinks.
