hello world!

I like to consider all of these long sleeves that I want to buy as a way to manifest my move to NYC. Because I picture myself wearing these pieces, strolling through NoLita, going to grab a coffee or cocktail with the girls post casting. Everyone is talking about the new drop from the Row, and pinning up your hair is “oh so chic” again.

Yesterday in LA, it was 65 degrees. I changed my coat three different times so that I could enjoy all of them before it was time to hang them back up until I get another glimpse of a cozy autumnal day. It probably won’t be until November or December. But on Saturday, the temperature will be 83 degrees and sunny. However, I’ll be knitting a beanie, lighting a candle, and pretending that it’s too cold to go outside. My other problem (if you want to call it that) is that I don’t dress for the weather. If I wake up and I really want to wear a tank top and jeans, that’s what I’m wearing. If I want to wear my leather jacket and Réalisation Par slip, nothing is stopping me. I take the expression “rain or shine” quite seriously. So when the calendar reads October (or in this case, November), I’d like to put on my silk pants, oversized knit sweater, and penny loafers and go outside, no matter what the weatherman says - to my dismay or not.

So, I live vicariously through my shopping cart. And here she is.

  1. Trading Up Polo - This with a white tee underneath, your favorite pair of jeans, and whatever shoe is most fitting for your vibe and occasion in that given moment. Ideally, I’d also have a black 35 calf leather Birkin in hand, but I haven’t reached that point in my life yet. This polo also seems like something cozy and warm I’d want to throw on in the house when I’m pouring my morning coffee or cuddling up on the couch for the night.
  2. Genevieve Dress - Think Rosemary’s Baby. Think Phoebe Tonkin. Think legs out, clogs on, pain au chocolat in mind. Honestly, I would argue against myself and claim this is an all-year-round dress. And it is, but I don’t have it, and it’s fall, so it is also technically fall shopping. Both can be true at once.
  3. Mauric Hobo - Suede Espresso - A suede hobo bag is the ultimate autumnal accessory. If you own one, great. If you own the Prada one, you are on my rob list. If you need one, you’ve come to the right place. This one is cute, and I want to hang some gold keychains off the side. But that’s just me.
  4. White Small Cashmere Bandana - Ok, new obsession - bandanas. Like, imagine being on a farm in Pennsylvania or Connecticut, wearing a sweater and a cashmere bandana around your head. Maybe you’re driving with the top down through the countryside, perhaps you have on your Hunter rainboots, and you’re going for a mid-morning stroll. Who knows. I just know the vibes will be elevated with this simple piece of fabric.
  5. Suede Leather Straight Trousers - Sometimes I want to switch it up from my typical blue jeans, and these felt like a comfortable transition. I can still style it with my white tee and a great pair of sunglasses if I’m feeling on edge. And probably my penny loafers, because ever since I bought them, they are all I can think about and wear.
  6. Striped Long Sleeve T-Shirt - You can never have too many striped long-sleeve T-shirts. I don’t know what it is, but the limit does not exist. This one, though, is my personal favorite. The boat-ish neck, the thin stripes, the perfect deep shade of red. Ugh, Ja’dore!
  7. Men’s Flannel Shirt - I haven’t totally figured out why I want a flannel, but I do. I like having at least one masculine piece in my outfit, and this will scratch that itch for me this fall. Wear it over your favorite single stitch tee and a comfy baggy pair of pants—maybe jeans, maybe sweats, perhaps silk. But you have to accessorize very carefully and very strategically because you can get quite “Revolve-cowboy-mormon-mom” very fast. Sorry, no shade to the Revolve-cowboy-mormon-moms out there, that’s just not my vibe. So go funky, vintage, and “this doesn’t really match” with your shoes and sunglasses.
  8. Chanel Vintage 2010 Mules - I love a heeled mule/clog. Especially if it has studs. And I know it’s not just a fast trend for me because this is the third F/W season that I have been obsessed with and in dire need of. These are actually from Karl Lagerfeld’s SS10 Chanel collection, but I’m getting a colder month vibe from them.
  9. Faux Fur Jacket - There is definitely a limit on the amount of furs you should have in your closet, but I am entirely unaware of what it is, and I would not like to be informed. Ignore is bliss! So I will keep buying three faux furs every year to grow my collection. This one is smaller and less extravagant, making it quite the everyday jacket.
  10. Chloe Knit Pants - These pants are definitely something I owned in elementary school, but often my best pieces are from that time. Something about it was speaking to me, and I still don’t know what it was. But you don’t always need to explain yourself; sometimes you know, and that’s good enough for me.
  11. Relaxed Satin Straight-Leg - These paired with said polo and white tee from No.1 - maybe. Or some other variation of that. I like how these pants encapsulate so many different vibes and aesthetics. It’s fun. And they look comfy.
  12. Zip-Up Cardigan - Very chic to me. I love the double unzipped look. I’d style it precisely the way they did in the photo. Oh, and with a great brown boot. Maybe a suede one. Yummy.
