WHY BACARI IS MY GO-TO IN SILVERLAKE

Bacari in Silverlake is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re in on something. Like the night could stretch forever, and you wouldn’t mind if it did.

Tucked into a leafy little pocket off Sunset, Bacari’s outdoor space feels like a softened version of the city. Bohemian, warm, a little tangled. Lights draped through trees, terracotta walls, shaded awnings — it’s romantic without trying, effortless without being too undone. The kind of place where you’d want to wear a vintage cotton mini dress and boots, or ballet flats and a leather jacket that still smells faintly like someone you shouldn’t text again.

The menu is Mediterranean-inspired small plates — and it’s genuinely hard to go wrong. Everything we ordered was creative, beautifully plated, and full of flavor, but not in a look-at-me way. Even better, it’s all well priced and (rare for this city) actually filling. They suggest 2–3 plates per person, but trust me: 1–2 is more than enough, especially if you’re also sipping one of their fruit-forward cocktails that taste like summer.

We were a split group — half vegetarian, half not — and still every single person left full and happy. Here's what we ordered for our first. The salatim, a trio of vegan dips that were perfectly balanced: one sweet, one sour, one umami, all scooped up with steaming, chewy pita that could’ve been a meal on its own. The broccoli came with a sauce I kept dipping everything into. The salmon was crisp-skinned and tender, perched on a bed of bulgur that pulled the whole dish together. The shawarma tacos were a fan favorite — a fun, unexpected twist. And the Bacari fries? Topped with a fried egg and the kind of sauce you want to lick off the plate. Easily the most addictive thing we ordered.

The petit filet lived up to its name — a few slices of meat and some zucchini — and while it was tasty, it was the one thing that felt like a true “small plate.” The Asian pear and brie pizza was good, but it might not be what you come to Bacari for. Next time, I’ll skip it in favor of another round of fries.

Dessert-wise, there was ice cream on the menu so you already know I had to participate. The Bacari ice cream came drizzled with clover honey and walnuts — not groundbreaking, but cozy and sweet. I’d order it again. The “Best Cake” was a little too sweet for me, and the texture felt a bit pre-made and reheated. Not terrible, just not a standout.

One of my favorite parts? It’s dog-friendly. I got to bring Bean, who approved of the ambiance (and the steak). It’s the kind of place where you want to stay for hours — order another drink, linger over dessert, talk about things that feel oh so pressing.

I already know I’ll be back, probably in jeans and kitten heels, probably on a weeknight that I want to feel like a weekend. I'll probably order the rest of the menu, as I'm determined to try everything.

Because something tells me their entire menu is good. And not good in a trendy way — good in a quietly iconic way. Just like the restaurant itself.

  • Being an it-girl isn’t about being a nepo baby or buying the shoes everyone else is buying, and I wanted to create TIGG - my digital magazine - to help show that. Here on TIGG, you can feel like an it-girl not only through reading about new outfit ideas and supermodels, but also through vintage designer finds, wellness, and lots of good food and drinks.
