The echo of 18th century corsetry, combined with the beauty of bridal lace, royal accents and feminine silhouettes, make Kim Kassas the most timeless wedding couture designer.

Her Crown Jewels collection displays a perfect harmony between modern and vintage themes, as the classic shape of the corsets mimic Marie Antoinette, and classical french silhouettes. The basics of corset history tell us that, from the 1700's to 1800's, the female figure featured a dramatic contrast of a tiny torso and voluminous skirts made of silk
and satin. Kassas presents a new way to bring back renaissance and royal bridal wear.

Kassas’ work is simply beautiful, as she references renaissance and royalty, and showcases baroque accents, perfect for the timeless bride. This collection highlights some religious connotations through the inclusion of crosses, biblical themed photoshoots and poses. The exquisite painted backdrop immitates Michelangelo’s work in the Sistine Chapel, contrasting with the vastness and simplicity of the white gowns. Kassas uses a variety of luxurious silks and satin, along with floral lace and sheer fabric to create dimension and contrast; while the boned corsets and stiff material add structure to accentuate the models body.

ANNE

Want to be covered head to toe in lace? Anne is the girl for you. Kassas created an incredible modern twist on the traditional gown, with delicate ostrich feathers grazing the floor and pearly organza fabric draped across the shoulders, what's not to love? This piece juxtaposes itself with the gorgeous Indian embroidered skirt which is shorter at the front and trails at the back, adorned with a high lace cuff around the neck, and detachable sleeves that attach to a wave of sheer along the upper back.

PR CHANDELIER

The chandelier inspired corset is made from purple and gold Solstiss lace, and showcases a voluminous skirt printed with baroque accents and silky fabric. Lacing across the back drips shards of crystal, replicating the light fixture it's named after. This piece is different to the others in the collection, due to its burst of colour. The yellow and purple provide a truly royal theme to the gown, which I think showcases Kim Kassas’ design variety beautifully.

ANASTASIA

This dress is my absolute dream dress, Kim Kassas first came to my attention when I saw this gorgeous dress online. This piece comes in two parts, a stunning slip dress made of embroidered Indian lace, that acts as a base layer to the garment, with fragile floral detailing on the cups and beaded straps. The second provides the silk voluminous Duchess skirt and beautiful beaded corset, perfect for a versatile and elegant option.

Though many brides will aspire to adorn gowns befitting to trends and modern styles, Kim Kassas presents a new genre of pieces that will inspire anyone, and I absolutely adore it.
